Waterborne Philadelphia serves youth, ages ten through eighteen. The programs are for middle and high school students in the City of Philadelphia with a focus on providing programming to underfunded schools that serve low-income families.
Philadelphia Waterborne is a founding member of the RiverWays Collaboration, a collective of organizations currently funded by the William Penn Foundation that are actively promoting awareness of the environment and increasing access to and stewardship of local waterways, primarily through educational opportunities. This group is sharing resources and expertise while developing new programming and safety protocols through their respective and collective programs. Members include: Glen Foerd on the Delaware, Bartram’s Garden, Independence Seaport Museum, Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory, UrbanPromise (Camden), and Philadelphia Waterborne.
Philadelphia Waterborne also has active and healthy partnerships with Bartram’s Garden and Glen Foerd on the Delaware, both of which include shared staff and physical space. Philadelphia Waterborne has space to build and store boats at both locations, and provides student-built boats for both organizations’ public Community Boating programs.
